Everyone has talked about it. Usually in the younger cabins, by those
newer alumni who can’t quite get it out of their system. Also while
royally tanked. You know what I mean – funnels in this cabin, shots
of So-Co in that cabin (everybody now: “smoooooooooth”). Anyway,
I digress, which of course, I tend to do.
“If those horseshoe battles that we all
enjoy watching take on point value?”
I’ve also heard 35 year-olds, 45 year-olds, 55 year-olds, and even older alumni talk about it. It’s there: “We should have a Color War for Old Timers.” And some guys laugh, but some guys talk seriously about how teams would get made (swim meet points are big…let’s draft the Turtle).(1) What events should we have? Volleyball for the 5’s, the 1’s, and the 2’s; Newcomb for the 3’s, 4’s, and miscellaneous cabins. Sort of like getting to the point in your life where you say: “Screw all that running around. I’m old. Throw me the ball and I’ll throw it back. Like we did when we were kids.” Keep water polo, but replace archery with mess hall cart races.
